Greetings from “Loop” headquarters,
Some of you have been asking for a Fall trail race and I have one to recommend. It is called WHERE THE PAVEMENT ENDS and will be run from the John Jay Homestead in Katonah N.Y. on Sunday Oct.21st. starting at 8:30. It is not a Leatherman Harriers event but it is being directed by one of our “Loop” regulars. I assure you that the pavement does end early and you will cover five miles trails and country dirt roads in the middle of Martha S. territory. Check it out at www.thepavementends.org.
On a somewhat sad note. A recent wind storm took down the three hundred year old Meadow Oak tree which has always served to mark the finish of the “Loop”. A wood carver has been commissioned to carve the trunk into some type of statue or monument.
Robin Meyers recently sent me a disc of photos that he took at this years race. They are most amazing and when the web site gets reworked we will post them to share with all of you. Remember that there will be no same day registration for all future “Loops” and entries will be capped at 1,000. Registration will open after January 1st. so sign up early if you plan to run.
Tony(former race director)
