Angle Fly Preserve: Newly Opened in Somers

imageThe Angle Fly Preserve is a new 654 acre preserve in Somers, NY.  The land was purchased from a developer in 2006 who had plans to build a 104 house subdivision.

The preserve is bordered by Route 35 and Route 100, spanning Primrose Street.  It touches Reis Park in the northeastern edge of the preserve and the Ladson Arboretum in the southwest.  The preserve is so new (opened October 3, 2009) that it does not even have a formal trail map although there are trails on the preserve.  Information about the preserve can be found here and here

From the Somers Land Trust Website: “Access to the preserve is available from the gated entrance on the west side of Primrose Street, located just 0.5 miles south of Reis Park.  Click here for a link to Google Maps for detailed directions.”

Definitely worth a hike or run.  Let us know if you have been there and can report!
