Where The Pavement Ends Trail Race Returns

Where the Pavement Ends was originally a trail & dirt road race in Bedford that ran for two years in 2007 & 2008. In 2009 it was cancelled but the organizers have rescued it and are now returning the race to a new location – the trails at Lake Windwing and Hemlock Hills in Ridgefield, CT! Details are below.

  • Date: Sunday, September 23, 2012.
  • Time: Race starts at 8:00am.
  • Distance: 4 miles of challenging trails

Training: Come join us on September 1st, 8th and 15th to practice running the course. We will meet at Lake Windwing at 8 am and go from there. All levels are welcome and we will have a few people as leaders to assist all runners. Come a little before 8 am to sign a USATF waiver. Get off the road for a bit and see how you like the trails! The training runs are free and open to all, not just registered racers.

Description: 4 mile trail run through Hemlock Hills in Ridgefield CT. Mix of fire road and singletrack that twists through areas that most of you will have never seen. Lots of fun to be had, probably a little sweat as well! You will know you have raced at the end.. in a good way of course. Course will be well marked with an aid station at the half way point.

Also, sign up for the race on active.com. Hopefully we’ll see everyone out there as we bring this great new event to Ridgefield.

The race will benefit the Ridgefield Conservation Commission, celebrating 50 years of service.

I have been running in these woods for years and they are a great place to cross train. All of those muscles that never get any work from all of that road running will definitely be used on this course. It is a great mix of fire road, singletrack, flats, hills, and one fast downhill section right towards the end.

Start /Finish: Lake Windwing, South Shore Drive, Ridgefield, Connecticut
