Loop Entry Closed

imageThe 2009 Registration for the Leatherman’s Loop is closed.  The race registration opened February 3rd at 12:01 EST. It closed less than 16 hours later due to overwhelming response.  To put this in perspective, last year the Loop had to close registration 33 days after opening.  The speed of this year’s closing is unprecedented.

We are awed at the power of the loop and we are very sorry that some folks are going to miss it this year.  We have been taking names for a waiting list since the registration closed but that list has grown past 300 people.  Realistically not more than 20-30 are likely to get a spot based on previous year’s cancellations.  If you missed registration this year and would like to be on the email list for next year or want to get in touch (we read each one and try to respond in a somewhat timely manner), click here to join the 2010 notification list

If you are looking for local trail runs & challenges, here is a link to some (mostly) nearby ones that you may be interested in (all 2009).

Edit:

Long list of NJ-centric Trail Runs compiled by Chris Jaworski (thanks Chris!):

If anyone has other trail races in the NY/NJ/CT area that are not on these lists, send them in and we will post them here!

Why is there a limit?  The course and park have a natural limit to the number of entrants. Over the past few years we have found this to be around 900 runners.  The county and park management are very generous letting the Loop visit every year and we want to maintain our excellent relations with them.

Don’t forget, the park is there every day—the loop course is mapped here and here.  There are miles of trails and sites (including the Old Leatherman’s Cave) in the park.  There is the also The Trailside Nature Museum (with email newsletter).

Post a note in the comments below if you are interested in a training run—you may find a local running partner.  Even better: post a training run that you have done local to your own area so that others can share.

Closer to the loop we occasionally get cancellations due to injury or other unexpected events and we will open up a spot to the next person on the waiting list.

If you are interested in helping out during setup, loop day, or clean up, let us know using the same form or drop us an email (leathermansloop@gmail.com).

If you have any other questions, let us know.

Peace.
